The NRA's School Safety Plan

Well the National Rifle Association spokesperson, Wayne Lapierre is once again ‘shooting’ his mouth off.

After the governor of Connecticut took a step in the right direction by signing into law some of the toughest gun legislation in the country, Mr. Lapierre took to the air waves to denounce the legislation that bans the sale of only some weapons and large capacity ammunition clips.

Mr Lapierre’s response to almost anything these days is, “more guns”. Mr. Lapierre would like to see an armed guard in every school in America. As we all know, there was an armed guard at Columbine. How’d that work out? It was ineffective, that’s how. So the NRA would also recommend that teachers should be packing guns. Wow, what a nurturing environment for a child to learn in.

I guess Mr. Lapierre will next be suggesting the students themselves have their own AR-15 propped against their desks, and a 30 round clip in their pencil boxes.

Today's Cartoon - Pressure Washers

Well, it's pressure washing season in my neighborhood.

It's the time of year when you can not escape the constant drone of one neighbor or another's pressure washer. They seem to run all day long. Each neighbor takes about a couple of days to complete the washing of their houses, patios, driveways, sidewalks etc. (And yes, I'm guilty of it too) I too am guilty of dragging out the gas-powered noise machine and sending gallons upon gallons of clean drinkable water down the drain.

But since reading National Geographic's 'Water' Issue, my way of looking at pressure washers is starting to change drastically.

In many developing countries people, mostly women and children, have to walk an average of 3.7 miles for water.

Check out United Nations International Decade for Action 'WATER FOR LIFE' 205-2015 for more interesting water related facts.

Anyway, that's a long winded description of what inspired today's cartoon.
